Basic CSR Policy

The Oenon Group recognizes that meeting the expectations of society and building relationships of trust with society are essential to achieving its own sustainable growth and creating corporate value over the medium to long term.
The Oenon Group considers CSR to be decision-making based on combined customer- and profit-oriented focus as a universal Group concept based on its Group philosophy. Taking into consideration whom we serve as a good corporate citizen and how we can be of service, we believe that by appropriately addressing environmental, social, and governance issues together with society, and by contributing to the sustainable development of society, we will build long-term, trust-based relationships trust with society.

Basic Approach

The Oenon Group’s corporate philosophy reads thus: “From the bounty of nature and with biotechnology as our base, we aim to help people find enjoyment and health through food. Under this corporate philosophy, we are actively engaged in CSR activities under five specific themes. Through CSR activities, we will maximize the Group’s corporate value and realize the "cocreation of future value" together with society.

Approach to the SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015, are 17 goals for all UN member nations to address by 2030 to achieve a sustainable world.

Approach to the SDGs

Five Major Principles in the SDGs Implementation Guiding Principles

As shown below, the SDGs have five characteristics. The Japanese government defined the “SDGs Implementation Guiding Principles” in December 2016. The government listed “Five Major Principles” to foster the effective and consistent mobilization of a wide range of measures and resources while working with stakeholders from all sectors.

1.Universality Make efforts by aligning domestic implementation and international cooperation.
2.Inclusive Approach No one will be left behind. Focus on all vulnerable people, including children, youth, older persons, persons with disabilities, refugees, and internally displaced persons, with the aim of achieving respect for human rights and gender equality in all efforts of domestic implementation and international cooperation.
3.Participatory Approach Emphasize the participation of all stakeholders so that everyone, including vulnerable groups, can contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
4.Integrated Approach Address three dimensions—economy, society, and the environment—emphasizing the interactions and synergy of multiple goals and targets.
5.Transparency and Accountability The status of responsibility initiatives shall be regularly evaluated, publicized, and explained.

The Oenon Group will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs proposed by the United Nations through CSR activities in line with its corporate philosophy.
