Greetings
The Oenon Group is a comprehensive manufacturer of alcoholic beverages. GODO SHUSEI CO., LTD., the base of the Group, was established in 1924 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, through the merger of four Hokkaido-based shochu producers.
Going back further, company founder Denbei Kamiya the first opened Mikahaha Meishuten (later called Kamiya Bar) in 1880. In 1900, he commenced the first private-sector production of alcohol in Asahikawa, forming the origins of the Company.
“From the bounty of nature and with biotechnology as our base, we aim to help people find enjoyment and health through food.” Under this corporate group philosophy, for many years the Oenon Group has brought into the world products and services based on the biotechnology it has cultivated through its production of alcoholic beverages.
Currently operating under a holding company structure, functions are allocated to Group companies as we develop our businesses: the alcoholic beverages business, which produces shochu, chu-hi (RTD), brewing and industrial alcohol, and other products; the enzymes, and pharmaceuticals business, which produces enzymes, and is involved in the production support business; the starch for food processing business, which handles the corn grits used as ingredients in beer, cereals and snack foods; and the real estate and other businesses.
Nowadays, the Group faces rapid shifts in the social and economic environment, such changes as a falling birthrate, shrinking population, global environmental problems, and a mounting awareness of safety and health with regard to food products. Against this backdrop, the Oenon Group places topmost priority on helping its customers find enjoyment and health through food. Furthermore, we endeavor to maintain a customer-centric stance toward safety and security.
